Compliance Attorney – Denver

Under the direction of our Chief Legal Officer, this position will have primary responsibility for managing IntelePeer’s compliance initiatives with respect to matters associated with privacy matters and IP telephony regulations in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.  These responsibilities involve collaborating with our internal organizations, including senior leadership, to ensure the company properly satisfies global, federal, and state requirements on consumer protection, data privacy, use and protection laws, and IP telephony regulation. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Research, track and brief the senior leadership on key compliance requirements of the company, whether legal and regulatory obligations or industry best practices and guidelines
  • Develop, implement, and oversee internal compliance plans and programs for those requirements
  • Create and conduct general and role-specific training on the programs to our employees and partners
  • Provide subject matter expertise to our teams developing new technologies, products, software, systems, features, and other related matters, to ensure adherence to our compliance programs
  • Handle any associated governmental affairs including preparing and submitting compliance filings and notices
  • Oversee and manage complaint intake and response process, and any third-party audits
  • Draft and update the IntelePeer Privacy Policy with our Information Security Team, as well as the privacy terms of our customer, partner, and vendor contracts
  • Advise on contract negotiations with customers, partners, and vendors, develop standard responses to customer privacy questionnaires, and manage compliance with any resulting contractual obligations

Competencies:

      • J.D. and state bar license required, with at least 10 years of experience with privacy and regulatory compliance, preferably in the software or telecommunications industry
      • In-house experience with consulting cross-functional teams on minimizing risk associated with privacy and regulatory matters in a growth company
      • Comprehensive knowledge of HIPAA, CCPA, CPNI, PCI, GDPR and NIST a must, while familiarity withgovernmental contracting helpful
      • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, while maintaining confidentiality
      • Works autonomously, efficiently, and collaboratively to manage priorities and problem-solving with quick turn-around expectations
      • Takes initiative to go above and beyond to address issues and help others with a positive, professional attitude
