Omar Altaji

With more than 25 years in the telecommunications industry, Mr. Altaji has a proven track record of building and leading large global organizations. He has held a broad range of strategic roles, spanning multiple geographies for global leaders AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Global Crossing. His background includes leadership roles in executive management, technology planning, sales and business development, product management and marketing, as well as research and development.

Mr. Altaji most recently served as executive vice president and managing director of the Worldwide Carrier Services CFU at Global Crossing. In this capacity, Mr. Altaji provided overall leadership and strategic direction for the voice, data and infrastructure services business globally, which constituted a significant portion of the company’s topline revenue. For almost four years, he was an integral part of the senior leadership team, managing the company’s very successful quarter-over-quarter growth journey leading up to its acquisition by Level 3 in October 2011.

Mr. Altaji joined Global Crossing in 2000 as vice president, and he progressed through a number of leadership and entrepreneurial roles in the Latin American and Caribbean regions and globally. The creation of Global Crossing’s Global Partner Program (GPP) was accomplished under his leadership. GPP has grown into a thriving business and an industry-leading while label program, critical to the company’s goal of maximizing opportunities for seamless IP-based global solutions in the enterprise market.

Mr. Altaji is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has lived in a number of countries on assignment, and traveled extensively across the world.
